Episode 1-The Ah-Ha Moment

Let me start by saying that I never thought 1) that i would be starting a cooking blog, and 2) that my first foray into this digital realm would be one of a vegan variety.

Cooking and tasty food have been a passion of mine- from a young child “helping” my beloved godmother bake while she and my godfather babysat me, to when I moved out of my mother’s house my last semester of college. My own place meant I could throw dinner parties. Yes, I said I liked to throw dinner parties at the age of 22- I had an eclectic group of friends and grew up in Austin, Texas before it was on the map. Point being, the theme is not unusual. It’s the blog itself. Nothing wrong with blogs. I read some. It was just never my thing. I think the shear number of them is an overwhelming concept. I feel the same about podcasts. Where do I start? Where I do I stop? How do I do anything else? But I digress.

My traditional American meat-centric palate was pretty bland. I had a world traveled military father who was allergic to any food with flavor or from a foreign land.. My nuclear suburban home ate at the dinner table every night . My mother cooked almost entirely from scratch and hardly made anything from a box or can except Kraft Macaroni and Cheese and Campbell’s soup. My father stayed out of the kitchen, except for weekend breakfast-that was his. We were red blooded American meat eaters just like God intended.
